Zende
is so unique for his style, mostly
based on his Persian origins,
which because intensely present in his
work of art, shows his feelings
of missing his country,
being an exiled artist.
His Painting is an open window
on his life. The history of Persia,
and its being invaded and
destroyed, every aspects
of its fortunes and misfortunes
appear in Zendes pieces,
letting him go back to his roots,
live a virtual rebirth,
make a never lasting pilgrimage,
and live an endless cycle of flying
away and returning to the nest.

The way Zende uses
calligraphy is to
emphasize the shapes and the lines.
Although it may seem to the neophyte that his writing
has a meaning, it is a senseless scripture,
a physical accomplishment and exercise of writing,
free from the strict laws of Persian calligraphy.
The words have no significance and are pure symbols;
they are like an open gate for the watcher towards
new horizons, the peaceful land of dreams. |
|
The forms and the art of
modelling are Zendes goal.
He cuts pieces, sticks them together,
subtly mixes layers over layers,
calmly and without warning,
takes the watcher away on a journey
full of colours and sensations,
creates his own universe
Zende the poet, the lover
of poems,
finds in classical Persian literature or
within his own writings verses he loves
and melts them in his compositions,
as the ancient Chinese painters did.

Here is the key
to understand Zendes
work of art: the mystification.
Mysterious is his search of the answer
while playing with words.
Mysterious is his genius to change
every day life objects into jewels.
Mysterious is his search to find what is left behind
as time goes by, like a running river.
Claude-Henri Bartoli, Jean-Luc Perez
